The Artist Abstract

There are less people than daytime at night. Night is calm and quiet. Instead of people, lights are the friends of night. Each colorful lights show their own characteristics to me and they say, because there is night, they could be exist to shine.  

Seeing nights, I always think that lights and dark are opposite things from themselves, but they are well collaborated at night; they help each other with their features to fill their weaknesses. Therefore I decided to take pictures of night view with building lights. I like taking pictures at night because there are no physical obstacles which disturb me to take pictures. I love the lights because they make beautiful night. I tried to focus on the lights of buildings because I wanted to convey how the lights decorate the building at night nicely to audiences. Through the lots or colors of lights, lights show their own mood and show they do not have only monotonous colors but variety of colors.

         I chose Philip Lorca Dicorcia's photogrphs. He is a photographer who takes photos of portrait. Before I choose him, I looked other landscape photographer. However, I thought a portrait of person can show the pictures' emotion and mood rather than landscape. The reason why I chose this photographer is color, light, and characters in his photos. He usually uses light to emphasize people. As you can see these three examples, in his photos, most of backgrounds are dark and achromatic color. However, the lighting parts are not dark and they are colorful. The colors can maximize what he wants to show and makes photos not simple and bored, Also he uses props so there aren't only people in the pictures, the props support the people'e emotions.  

        I hope that I can emulate him as much as I can. I want to focus on to the light, color, and people's facial express. Because I will take photos of people, I will not maximize landscape or back ground. If the landscape and back ground need to express some portraits, I would use them but not maximize them. I may edit them with dark color and put bright color to the people so that i could emphasize what I want to tell through the pictures.
